Road Hunters are poachers!

Poaching is an illegal act. Road hunting if it's illegal isn't poaching. An individual might think it's unethical but that is a personal decision. There is a large gulf between what is legal and what is ethical but it is up to the individual to make that decision.

Where the individual crosses the line is when he makes judgements on others based on his own ethical views.

Seems that PMS has infected the Chicken Littles again.

Cabin fever, eh Andy? It's hitting hard. Soon the snow will be gone and they can go out to pasture and have other things to play with.:p

BR, this is for you!

I just had to go back to the original post to find out that the real topic of discussion asociated "detachable magazines" with road hunters and poachers.

Ok, here's my take on it:

1. I own rifles with detachable magazines and I am not a "bonafide" road hunter. I do use my PU to benefit from some time afield with my kid as I will explain below. Certainly not a poacher, but like I said...two rifles with clips.

2. A road hunter, is not something that I personally endorse. But, because I love to hunt with my daughter who is now handicapped and has hunted with me for years, I have found myself at time becoming somewhat of a road hunter. We laugh about it driving around in the truck, "look what I've lowered myself to doing" I tell her, she and I laugh it off. I set her up for her short walk, she can manage maybe 200 yds. Let me reassure you, that by all ethical and legal means, she dispatches her game quickly and cleanly. The landowner has giving permission, and when she succeeds, shares her game or at least offers to with the landowner. Other than that, anyone who is able bodied and has the use of both legs and is too Goddamned lazy to get out of the truck should find another hobby.

3. To associate a detachable mag or a clip with road hunters or poachers is udderly stupid.

I was always under the impression that a firearm cannot be legally discharged under 300ft off a road..I should check on that , it may be in my area only like the .275cal and under restriction.
Never the less , if I'm going to hunt then I'm getting off my duffess and hunt like it's ment to be . Disabled and seniors should be able to road hunt ..no probs with that at all...but able bodied hunters that roadhunt are likely the type to use the disabled parkingspots too.
A while ago , I was travelling down the 402 and seen a coyote in a field , about 200yd off the road . 3 hours later , when I was coming back , sure enough , I seen that 'Yote still standing in the same place , looking the same direction. I wondered if that was a decoy , set up by the MNR , for roadhunters...hope so...least I know my taxes are being used for the right thing.

All we have to do in Alberta is step into the field. Cant shoot from the road or ditch, unless you are shooting upland birds with a shotgun. Then you can walk along the country roads and shoot grouse.

I've stepped out of the truck before, walked across the ditch and just into the field to shoot a moose or deer. Perfectly legal (provided you own the land or have permission to access).

95% of the time Im out walking somewhere tho.

Stupid thread.

Why cant people just accept that different people hunt different ways and as long as no laws are being boken we should not criticize.
