Road Hunters are poachers!

In Ontario, the law is you must be across the legal boundry of the road easement. Road easements (regular roads not highways) are 66ft wide. Usually were a fence is erected, is the edge of easement. That is why they say you must cross the fence to legally shoot. Now Townships can create bylaws that can restrict shooting. This may be the case in an area were you hunt. So they may have a 300ft distance in effect.

I was always under the impression that a firearm cannot be legally discharged under 300ft off a road..I should check on that , it may be in my area only like the .275cal and under restriction.
Never the less , if I'm going to hunt then I'm getting off my duffess and hunt like it's ment to be . Disabled and seniors should be able to road hunt ..no probs with that at all...but able bodied hunters that roadhunt are likely the type to use the disabled parkingspots too.
A while ago , I was travelling down the 402 and seen a coyote in a field , about 200yd off the road . 3 hours later , when I was coming back , sure enough , I seen that 'Yote still standing in the same place , looking the same direction. I wondered if that was a decoy , set up by the MNR , for roadhunters...hope so...least I know my taxes are being used for the right thing.

keep in mind that un-maintained roads, forest service roads, and roads not listed on the muncipal guidlines do not fall under these rules:D as they are not legaly a road

OK you dog, and I'll wait out at the next beaver pond...........Ready go.

If I ever go out hunting, chances are it will be from my vehicle, and yes, it IS legal and will have the proper paperwork to support that, all it takes is a trip to the doc to have him fill out a form from the provincial wildlife dept. Regs may differ in other provinces however.

A bigger issue is shooting from inside your car or truck, and using your drivers side mirror as a rifle rest.. :D

Now thats just pure out lazy....its like com'on, go find a stump or somthing...

ill shoot somthing getting out of the truck i walk when i get to the spot i want, and a detatchable mag lets you have another 3 rounds ready to go in a snap, i love the icon its beutiful and fits eveyr hunters needs so he should stfu and stop #####ing about ppl that dont do things exactly the way they do ti, we all dont like road hunters but heck weve all done it, we all drive tom our spots ready with a few shells in our hands or pockets.

Don't recall ever reading in the synopsis about a "Road" season or "manditory road licence" so it does seem reasonable that "hunting roads" just may considered poaching.

Anyone really stop to think that Poaching is shooting a deer out of season or without a tag??:bangHead: :kickInTheNuts: What the hell does a vehicle have anything to do with it:rolleyes: Man you guys can pissfight over nothing:onCrack:

road hunting is OK .you drive around if the weather is not in your favor and lots a times if there is to many rambos in the bush they push the game on to the roads.I believe in walking and climbing those hillsides, atv's,boats, treestands and whatever it takes to get your game.there are hunters from 13 to 80 year old hunters out there ,so everybody to there own. tresspasser and pouchers will always be there .so you always get those wieners crying that some 13 year old kid shoot and boone&crockett in the middle of the road in the middle of the day.sportsman is what? someone who shoots ameat buck off the road or someone who shoots a trophy deer and takes the horn and alittle of the meat?

What are we going to pick on next, a farmer hunting on his own property?
Somebody shooting deer in their back yard? Somebody shooting deer on their cottage drive way?????

Silliness, off with their heads, I say!!!!!!!

To point fingers at a person who is hunting useing legal methods is counter productive to our sport. Anyone who condems road hunting and has stopped to shoot an animal on route to or returning from their hunting spot is a hypocrite.

Coming from a higher form of life like yourself, this is nothing short of brilliant! ...... I stand in awe!

.

LOL. Maybe I should ask my boss for a raise.

I didn't imply anything. The article writer did. Everyone that hunts with me knows I carry my rifle locked in a trailer behind my car just to help resist the temptation to shoot from the road. (sarcasm intended)
