RoArm XCR Frequently Asked Questions, Where

However, this could be partly blamed on commerical consumers. Most commerical consumers care much more about cosmetics issue, hence "fit and finish", then any thing else.

I couldn't care less about fit and finish. I don't look at/take pics of my guns/toys/tools. I would much rather a rifle that ran like a tank, and shot like a bat out of hell then looked like a Ferrari.

I am in the very fortunate position that due to my business I get to play with all the “cool toys” unfortunately due to the my 60+ hour working week I spend less time on the range than ever before and yes this is a personal opinion. I rate the XCR extremely highly, it is one of the best systems I have every used. “My gun” is the shop demo, one of the first in Canada, it has been used and abused by everyone who wanted to play with her. She has had no upgrades, if it isn’t broke don’t fix it, I am ashamed to admit it, but I have never even moved the gas regulator. Only had one malfunction, when the ejector bolt fell out, I have seen far more problems with just about every other gun on the market. I am not claiming the XCR is the best, but it is a long way from been as bad as some make out.

Not sure what all the fuss about break in periods is about, I simply don’t have time to follow all the threads. My personal opinion is that any one who is prepared to take any piece of kit into a life or death situation with out giving it a good work first is a dam fool, unless they are in “combat’ and have no choice other than grabbing what is available. This applies to guns, trucks, boots, planes, repel harness in fact just about anything. So take the rifle design you like, with the features you like, (to me caliber, balance and handling are the most important) and then practice, practice, practice. Bugs will show up, maybe through design, manufacture, ammo used or the operator, just work through them, and then you know you will have a winner. What the rest of the world thinks is really of no importance. For example, I have, and will again stake my life on the reliability of my double rifle, I check her repeatedly (and the ammo, my reloads) before every trip to Africa, even this English double has required to be serviced twice, does this make her a “bad gun”? No not at all, I believe it confirms that she is in the hands of an operator (me) who does not take unnecessary risks. I need 100% confidence in my rifle when I am looking up at a bull Elephant.

My advice applies to all firearm systems, it matters not if it is combat or competition, there are good and bad from all manufactures.

The above is my personal view, I felt I had to add some thing as I was amazed at how quickly this thread grew and it has nothing to do with the fact that we import the XCR!!!!

Hopefully we will have plenty of rifles in .223, 6.8 and 7.62x39 for 2010, if you haven’t already tried one you really should.

Well, if you guys want a FAQ -let's put some materials down that is worth FAQing.

For example, assembling, disassmebling, accessories...that kind of things.

Rifles should not need break in - XCR is the first "military" style sporting rifle that advertises a "break-in" preriod. IF this rifle is designed for the military, it will be unacceptable for the military to open up a crate in the theatre to resupply, and the soldiers need to piss 300 rounds down range to "break in" before they can be effective.

However, this could be partly blamed on commerical consumers. Most commerical consumers care much more about cosmetics issue, hence "fit and finish", then any thing else.

Keep in mind, that according to XCR_Monger, one of the reasons for the break-in, is civilians using lower powered SAAMI spec. .223

Military spec. 5.56x45mm NATO is much hotter, and probably wont give the XCR any trouble at all.

Even my friends SIG Black Special didn't like the lower powered American Eagle .223 he shot out of it occasionally, at first. It didn't jam but didn't send the spent brass very far.
