Robarms XCR FAQ post

I am interested in a range session review/accuracy report of the XCR in 7.62x39 using corrosive ammo (it seems the Czech surplus is the flavor of the day). I read just a few short comments here but no real session reports using a few hundred rounds or more. Interested too in any FTE's/FTF/double feeds/reliability as it pertains to the 7.62x39 chambering. Interested in 5/20/ mag. availability AND reliability reports. Any leads out there?

guys this is an FAQ thread, keep it to the gun topic only. Anything else will get the chop.

Limit this thread to posting technical information only about the XCR. Pictures are ok, however this thread is not for general discussion about the rifle just tech information.

This may be a silly question, forgive me if it is. But are AR15 type mags compatable with the xcr, particularly if it is chambered in 7.62 and with the LAR15 10rd mags? Thanks.

Here is mine with the new CTR and cheek piece on

I also have a question:

Lets say - hypothetically - if someone happens to mix up the 5.56, 7.62, and 6.8 casing deflectors  Is there any way to re-identify them, or is there any real problem with using them mismatched?

That stock adapter really disrupts the flow of the rifle :( Otherwise I really like it!

Here's a belated response to the question about mixing up the deflectors.

I have both the .223 and 7.62x39 barrels for my XCR. I got tired of switching the deflectors every time I switched barrels so I just left the 7.62 deflector on. Where, with the .223 deflector the brass tended to go out in about the 2 o'clock position ( forward a bit and to the right ), with the 7.62 deflector , the .223 brass goes out at about the 4 o'clock position ( right and slightly back , very much like an AR ) . I like that much better since it makes it easier to pick up the brass when it's all lying on the floor behind me rather than 20 feet down the range.

And one less step when changing barrels. Now it's just one 1/4" bolt for the barrel and switch the firing bolt in the carrier. Very quick and easy.

What type or number of Locktite do you guys use on the stock bolt?

I installed the NEA stock adaptor. I noticed after the 2nd range session, the bolt was very loose. I don't want to use the wrong stuff. Might need to remove the bolt in the future.

Avalibility of 5/20 or 5/30 round magazines for the XCR in 762x39???

Pretty much the only thing keeping my visa in my pocket.

Just a couple things I have noticed. Keep in mind I do not yet own and XCR but I have done some extensive research.

Robinson Armament has made the XCR so that the end user can do most of the work on the rifle without the need of a gunsmith. Most of the bolts on the rifle are loosened or tightened via an Allen key. Some people have reported these bolts coming loose therefore it would be in your best interest to use some 277 loctite on the bolts like the ones on the ejector, deflector, under the barrel (if you do not plan to use the conversion kits much), etc...

Also note that some of the XCRs shipped out have had out of spec gas blocks which have resulted in unexplained malfunctions. Robinson Armament has really good costumer service and will gladly sort it out for you.

Other than that when you get the rifle read the manual, break your rifle in accordingly and you should be very pleased with your choice in firearm.

How can you tell what an out of spec gas block looks like ? What type of malfunctions ?

+1 for the excellent customer srvc from XCRMonger (Terra).

My front iron sight came loose after first time i went to the range. I use all the Hex key i have and it is either too big for the sight or too small. What size is it ? i may need to buy that size because i don't have it. (I looked on the midwest ind website and it doesn't tell you the size)
