Robarms XCR FAQ post

Well, this sucks... sorry to everybody for going over this again..

But I emailed Rob Arms tech support for the official word and asked them specifically if the XCR-L can handle 5.56 NATO, and what kind of chamber it has. They didn't bother to respond to me. I know on their page that it says 5.56 NATO (223 remington) but the two are not equivalent but it looks like they are saying it is.

Anyways, sorry to keep bringing this up.

They are saying it shoots either right on the web site so stop worrying about it...

This was asked and answered some time ago. Shoot 5.56 all you want just don't tell anyone.

Hey guys!

I have been looking at this rifle very hard. I noticed there is XCR-L and a newer XCR-M. From a little research it appears the XCR-L can be converted to shoot 308,223, etc etc which is awesome. I have however also heard that the XCR-L has had a few issues with it.

I also understand the XCR-M is only available in 308 right now. Will you also be able to convert it to 223, or 7.62?

Should I buy the XCR-M or the XCR-L?

You're not quite correct.

The XCR-L is available in .223/6.8/7.62x39. The XCR-M is only available in .308 Winchester and .260 Rem.

Which one you should buy depends on your intended use.

I finally got to shoot my xcr in 7.62 this weekend and broke my cleaning rod in the barrel. Can anyone recomend a good cleaning kit for the xcr?

I would highly recommend an Otis kit; I have many and love them.

Enjoy your XCR!

Can Otis ship to Canada and is gun cleaning and smithing tools subject to the same export laws as components? Read on here the other day a reemer might be subject to some new export law

You can find Otis kits at many places right here in Canada. Have a look around some of the site sponsors and I'm sure you'll find what you need.

Must have spare recoil buffer. They do break and render the XCR inoperable. They cost about $10 (if I remember) at Wolverine but takes about 2 weeks if they have no stock. I have seen them break and waiting for this cheap part is painful.

Definitely get extra buffers. I bought 3 extras and I have one left.

How many people have had there recoil buffers break? Are the newer models breaking as well?Have they improved the buffer pads?

The newer ones are also suspect. My cousin had one crumble after 100 rounds on a brand new XCR-L last year. Mine has never broken (1000 rounds). I think it may be a composition thing. Some go & some don't. I just think for the $10 it costs to have a spare, it isn't a decision to think through. I have a spare and that's that...

I have over 10,000 rounds on my original buffer, mix of 5.56 / 7.62x39 and it's holding strong. I do have a spare just in case.
