Robarms XCR FAQ post

I ran mine on setting 2 until it had about 500 rounds through it and then dropped it to #1 an that was with .223

7.62 is much hotter and should easily cycle the XCR on lower settings.

I put about 200 rounds through my new 7.62x39 xcr today and had only 3 out of about 20 mags actually lock up on empty mag. Gas setting was on 4 since shes still on the break in stage but shouldnt she still have bolt lockup? Im using 5 robarms 10rd x39 mags from wolverine supplies.

Out of spec bolt catch is all i can think of. Since it should still lock up on the 4th setting, and with all 5 mags failing eveytime but a few.

Any other thoughts?

Does it lock back when you cycle it by hand? Did you try lowering the gas setting?

It does lock back while hand cycling the action, but it also releases the bolt every 2/5 times a mag is inserted so I'm suspecting the boot catch. I will try the lower gas setting next range day. I'm curious to why a lower setting may work while a higher one won't fit bolt lock.

read on another forum that if an AR is over gassed it will not hold the bolt open either..something to do with the bolt moving so fast that it jumps the catch. Not sure if this is even possible but lowering the gas setting seems worth a try

Its certainly the easiest thing to try. Thanks!

Went to the range today (luckily my home towns range is only 5 minutes away. The joys of being home for christmas!) and put 1 round in each mag did 10 mag changes for gas settings 1,2 and 3 and of the 30 changes, only twice did the bolt hold open (once on setting 3, and once on setting 1).

Really leaning towards a new bolt catch, especially with it releasing the bolt about half the time i inserted a mag :S

So my rifle arrived on Saturday and I'm not impressed with the FAST stock.. Maybe just me... Seems clunky and heavy and I don't think it extends enough...

I really don't need a folder Either.. So I guess we order an adapter and put on a new stock... Damn if it's not one thing it's another... My wife loves me just not my spending habits..

I'll take that old stock off your hands if you'd like

@ioncore

Robinson arms came out last year saying that theyre 7.62x39 mags had weak spring tension which was causing this problem. if youre mags are robarms mags that were produced over 2 years ago, this may be youre issue

have you been using PMAGS? is it possible the XCR suffers the same supposed issues as the ACR/SCAR, Tavor.. the V shape in the rear of the pmag causes the bolt hold open to sit too high and the bolt rubs on it and wears it down..

Thats an interesting video, and no i dont use pmags, I have the 7.62x39 version and have 5 of the robarm x39 mags i got from wolverine. They are sending me a new bolt catch. It looks like its a hair not long enough and the bolt catch would barely grab the boltface. It wont hold the bolt back no matter what anymore, wether using the bolt holdopen or empty mag. So once it arrives ill just have to wait and see.

So Was looking at the FS and I can't see a weld... So are they still pinning and welding? question 2 is this a vertical pin.. Like the hand of a clock or a set screw or a cord pin which goes across...

bear.23 does your f/s have a small hole in the top ? mine does ,is this where the pin would go ?
I have not tried to remove the f/s yet, until I get a muzzle brake.
Does anyone know what trigger type is used ( ar 15 ?)

I have a question for all the XCR guys who have both the .223 and 7.63x39 conversions, or vice versa. Is there a noticeable difference in accuracy in the two different rounds at distances between 100 to 300 meters? My range is only 300 yards max. I've read thru all 96 pages but couldn't find anything definitive. Hard to source out an answer on the XCR forum either.
I've had my XCR-L in .223 a year now and love it, and am kicking around either the XCR M or the 7.62x39 conversion kit. At up to 300 yards, is the M version quite a bit more accurate then either the .223/7.62 in an XCR? All the ammo will be bulk surplus stuff in these guns.
