Robarms XCR FAQ post

I cannot verify as I am at work, but I thought rifles from the US, while chambered for 5.56 specifically, must be stamped .223 for export. I could be wrong, but I thought I read that somewhere.

Some of the early XCR (prior to 2010) had barrels that wasn't pinned and marked as 556.

XCR barrels are stamped 5.56, including the replacement barrel I just got from Wolverine a few months ago. this also goes along with RA now stating that only "NATO SPEC" ammo be used in the XCR-L platform. You will not find any NATO spec 223.

The flash hiders were threaded and welded on the barrels, this is for the US market I believe. I have removed 2 of them already and replaced them with 1/2-28 threaded aftermarket flask hiders.

Isn't the only reason they're pinning and welding a FH , in some of the states , is to extend the barrel from 16 inches to 18 inches ? Thereby changing the classification .

I believe it was because a flash hider is indicative of an evil military "assault rifle."

Stamped 223 and yes factory welded.

wow..... Both of mine barrels have been stamped 5.56 and my welds were not nearly as ugly as that blob of bird sh!t.

Kinda hard to say you have to use mil spec 556 when you stamp 223!

Yes, I would have to agree with you. A RA employee told me that they specify that "NATO spec" ammo only be used in the XCR-L. This was after I contacted them about mine exploding. They were very quick to say the incident occured from my using non "NATO spec" ammo in the XCR-L. They verbally told me this "could" happen with any commercial hunting ammo and NOT to use anything marked .223 in my XCR-l as it was "engineered" for 5.56 Nato ONLY......their words not mine.

Wow, that is crazy! They mark their rifles .223 (this is actually the second one I've owned marked 223) then randomly say this, they need to give their heads a shake. As far as I'm concerned my rifle is chambered for 223 because that's what it says!

That's like selling a car that requires high octane fuel but you write on the filler cap and manual that 87 is OK because high octane fuel is illegal. They can't turn around and screw you for using .223/87.

Never had an issue with mine. Eats any .223 or 5.56. I have never heard of problems associated with .223 and I know 5 others with XCR-L's that have never had an issue. Can't find anything about this on Snopes either.

So my XCR is a 2014 Keymod Version. Would a fake can such as a spikes tactical, fit on it? And would it mess with accuracy? Is there a better option (for a similar price tag)?

Threads are the same so i dont see why not. Damn thats gunna be hella long tho! No idea if it messes with accuracy cause ive never used one.

I think they chamber them in 5.56 but mark them .223 due to some kind of export law stuff if I remember correctly.

stupid thing is, it is all depending on whose desk the export papers ends up on for the day, .556 and 7.62 marked rifles gets approved for export one month, but gets rejected the next.
