Hello Guys and Girls
I have a Question for you.
I look for one of this two model of Non-restricted Rifle.
Can you help me to choice between Robinson armament XCR .223 and HK SL8-6
Explain me the reason of your choice for helping me to make my decision.

I know the price is relatively the same for this two model so tell me what is the advantage (technical specification) to select one or the other.

Thank in advance

Cyril

I bought the XCR. That being said let me tell you why.

I had narrowed down my choices to the Swiss Arms, SL-8 and the XCR.

I handled the Swiss Arms and found the grip very small for my hands. This combined with the extra $1,000 in price and the scarcity and high cost of accessories removed it from the list. It has great sights.

The SL-8 has a unique look but here too the high cost and scarcity of accessories made me a bit reluctant.

The XCR has a heavy barrel and takes common AR accessories so you can change sights, optics, grips ect. with a large choice of options at a more reasonable cost. These are available from your local gun emporium or online. The risk with the XCR is what happens if Robinson goes out of business as can happen to lost od small companies. I will invest in their spare parts kit for $75.00 just in case, call me paranoid!

I would have liked either of the other two guns but I am very happy with the XCR and have had zero problems with it. It is a good shooter and fun to handle.

Just my 2 cents worth.

The Swiss Arms is the best of these rifles. There is just no comparison. The XCR, even though it is less, just doesn't feel like it is worth the money when you examine the fit, finish, and overall workmanship. The more pricey Classic Green.... handle one, examine it, shoot it. It willl seem like a bargain.

SL8 or Swiss Arms will both be more accurate shooters. Look at the twist rates of all the barrels and you will also find differances. Can't say for sure about the classic green, but I would put my SL8 against a Robinson XCR anyday at 300 yards for a couple bucks!

And common really an SL8 barrel is not as thick as an XCR barrel?!?
Have you even seen an SL8 barrel?

Depends on what exactly you're looking at the system to do.

If you're looking only paper shooting with maximum modularity and low cost, the AR15 system is the king of relatively low cost and modularity. It'd be the only rifle I'd own if it were non restricted.

If you're looking for a varmint target semi auto without any fuss, the HK SL8 is superior to the Swiss Arms in terms of cost effectiveness.

If you want a rifle that will retain it's value and can be sold years later at cost or for profit, then the Swiss Arms is hard to beat. Their retail price keeps jumping up for some reason and you see guys selling these for hundreds of dollars more then what they originally paid for it, and that's after they've put a couple thousand rounds through it.

If you're looking for a jack of all trades but master of none, the XCR is steadily evolving into a fine rifle system. The value of a multicaliber system is currently questionable in the civilian given that the ammunition for the other calibers is somewhat difficult to come by at the moment. But it's still a good rifle from all accounts.

Really?? A Poly Upper vs Alloy Upper? I had both, dumped the sl8 in favor of the XCR. The poly upper just has way too much movment in it to make any kind of a real good shooter out of it, IMO.

No offense, but if you don't notice a difference in what the SL8 can deliver on target compared to the p!ss pore performance of the xCR, your shooting probably sucks to begin with. Just sayin'

You couldn't help yourself now could you? You seem to have some sort of perverse obsession with the XCR...

Granted that I'm a piss poor shot, then I must have shot both with the same piss poorness.. (If that's a word) Therefore my comparison would have been legit.

When was the last time you seen a high end rifle mount optics to a dammed plastic rail??

I have shot both the XCR and the SL8. I believe accuracy is around the same for both. I personaly don't think you can go wrong with either rifle. My choice would be the XCR because it seems to acquire the target faster on follow up shots but that could be because it weighs more. Oh and of course the 10 round mags are a big plus.
