My XCR will be here in few weeks...

I sold my SL8-4 after several years of play, it was simply a time for a change.

I loved the SL8, it hit everwhere I pointed and it and was a joy to shoot... however, I got tired of having all that money tied up in a toy that I cant hunt with.... So I ordered a FDE .223 XCR with a 6.8 conversion, a set of arms rings and a Burris 3-12x50 XTR (illuminated/coyote brown) to top it off.

I'm sure this rig will not dissapoint and I when I put my 6.8 kit through its paces and see how it hunts, I will let you all know.

Dual purpose playtoy / hunting machine.....:D:D:D:D I cant wiat.

Gord.

If you come up from the Hat, I'll supply the ammo and the range.

That's not such a bad idea... I'll probably be up there for the gun show in April. You don't mind if I also shoot 6.8 SPC? :D

If you like your paticular gun, great, just don't be offended that it's not as good as another gun. Sometimes it's just because of price. XCR $1700 (or whatever), Swiss Arms $3000 +. Why in the world would anyone expect the XCR to be better than the Swiss Arms gun! It should not be better and is not.

Nobody was saying the XCR is a sniper rifle that'll give you a handjob every time it fires. We're just saying it works and it has some advantages that make it a valid and interesting choice.

As for the whole "if it's more expensive then it MUST be better" line of thought. Well there is such a thing as being overpriced...

Why can't you hunt with it?

Hey Beltfed, you want to take me to the range and buy me some ammo so we can do a little test of the XCR? I'm already in Calgary. :p

Sure!
Does yours have the 'match' trigger?
We can test some Ruag, IVI, IMI, and handloads if your up for it.
We can put one of my Nightforce NXS 2.5x10 scopes on your XCR to make it a fair comparison glass-wise. I would want to even out as many variables to make it as even a test (apples to apples) as we can.
We can shoot for decent spring weather when the range is not so busy.

I'd suggest maybe March or April.

PM if you like.

For me a rifle has to fit and feel right when I pick it up if it doesn't no matter how good it shoots isn't enough for me to buy it.

So it was simple for me... I do not like the fit/feel/look of either the Swiss Arms or HK and when I finally picked up an XCR a few weeks ago it looked right, felt right and better yet it fit right so I now have an XCR ordered should be here in a few more weeks...

I was shooting an XCR in 7.62X39 at the club yesterday I have to say even with the cheap corrosive rounds it was a fun accurate rifle.

Mine is in 223 so when it gets here it is going to be my new coyote hunting rifle... :D

I wish we could use .223 here......

I have to thank gcarms - I'll be receiving that fine rifle shortly and we can hunt with .223 here in Ontario...

;-)

In Alberta, we are restricted to carrying no smaller than a .23 cal. firearm if we have a big game lisence.... I do hunt predators and varmits, avidly I might add, with .223. Many a savage mountain gopher has seen his end from the old HK.....:D:D However, you all know how it feels when it comes time for a change.... The XCR is another firearm that I have had an interest in for a long time so I said lets make it happen and the Hk is gone to Voere270 to finance the build.

I'm sure she will be put to good use.

Have a great weekend.

AR-180 is a fine option for non-restricted. Heres mine with a few mods. (I recently added an EoTech)

It shoots straight and has given me no problems. I'll be posting a range report soon.

Call me crazy, but I honestly think I like my AR-180 more than my XCR. They both shoot great, but the AR-180 seems to handle better.
