I've always wanted a Rob Arms expedition rifle, they just look really fun.

http://www.robarm.com/mainpage.htm

Plus the gas piston would be good. The last ammo I shot in my AR smelled like cat pee, from a cat that died of drinking ammonia. If there was a piston there that smell would be going forwards out the muzzle instead of into my delicate nose.

Wouldn't it be cool to be able to flip your receiver and use it Bren-style?
I have been waiting for availability on one of these also.
I like them over the AR types because they utilize a gas piston instead of blowing the gas into the action/bolt area; and the receiver is stainless steel as opposed to cast aluminum..........well, I like steel over aluminum and polymer materials any day for firearms applications.
I will hold out for an Expedition Carbine model over the XCR version.

You will be waiting a very, very long time....
The Expedition Carbine model is due to hit the shelves at the exact, same time that Hell reaches Absolute Zero!

Alex Robinson is a master at marketing . When word came of him making a Stoner copy 10 years ago , I jumped on one right away. He said they would be making a "Belt feed " system for it within 1 year . Still waiting ALEX !!! They also had a very " HUSH HUSH " recall on the M96 that no one knew about except the guy that had the m96 blow up in his face. This is no BS ! To be fair, I loved mine and it was a great weapon . If Alex was a little more honest in his practices , I would buy alot of items from him . I hate snakes and he will not get a penny from me. I love his ad " M16 , your replacement is here " . What a joke ! The rifle was rejected from the Scar program faster than you toss a used rubber down the crapper. Just my .02

It's great to go ahead and spew Robarm hate, but do you have any sources to back the claims of rifles exploding in peoples face?

Do you know why they were rejected from the SCAR program?

I just hate to see people spew hate without having any backing information. If there is a serious, dangerous issue with the M96 rifle, people here should know about it so they can have the recall done on their rifle.

I thought they didn't submit XCR at the last minute, cause they didn't have working model or something. And just to point out, if you loved your M96, then you should go on enjoying your rifle. RobArm can say whatever they want to, I don't care. Unless you specificallly bought your M96 for that belt-fed conversion, than there's no problem is there? And what is this about M96 blowing in someone's face? Can you elaborate, rather than say it's no BS? Everyone who bought XCR's been praising it, saying it's good rifle. I'd go with majority opinion.

I have heard that the XCR was eliminated from SCAR trials because they didn't have a blank firing attachment, or was it a bayonet mount?......but then again, what do I know....

I don't think the FN SCAR winner has a bayonette attachment either.

P.S.

Right after that Scarecrow posted:
Barrels flying down range, pins breaking...
Garbage rifle, even the chinese can make better guns.

Plus its discontinued so not long from now no parts either

I think that that were other things like a proper gas adjustment system that come to mind /the ability to deliver a finished product to meet contract deadlines. While I do like the M96 rifle the XCR has some great features the biggest selling point is the Adjustable Gas Piston System, The gas adjustment could be better described as crude by today's standard  .It looks like something you threw together at a Nut & Bolt supply shop come to think of it, it probably was:eek:

Sorry for the late reply as I have been busy shoveling . We got over 2 feet in the last 2 days ! I am not trying to spew Robinson hate , I have been dealing with them for over 10 plus years and think they are sneaky and sometimes lie to sell the product. To be clear , I never had a problem with mine and it was a great rifle ! After I had the rifle for about 5 years , I heard about the recall and I was not going to give them a dime for a problem they should have taken care of and sold the rifle . I discounted it so the new owner could send it in to be fixed. The M96 has had several serious problems and recalls since its introduction. I had one of the first 100 made . Several documented kabooms on "Bigger Hammer" that led to recalls by Robinson. One for the barrel latch and bolt carrier upgrades. Robinson never contacted the owners ,took out any recall ads and the recall was very "Hush Hush" They even charged the cust. for some parts in the recall ! A person I know who bought a M96 Carbine about 5 years ago launched his barrel 25 yards because the latch was defective . His rifle was the reason for the barrel latch upgrade recall. It took more than 1 trip back to the factory for them to get it right ! The kabooms did not take anyones life but they ended up in the hosp. for awile. If you have one of the m96 models , I would call the factory to seen if its under the recall or if it has the upgrades already ! Have your serial # ready. Just because you guys have "Free" healthcare , this is not one way for you guys to use it! Good luck !

I heard that the lack of a BFA was just a pretext, and the real reason FN won was the 'incentives' they were offering. But hey, I read that on the intertubes...

if you saw the FN SCAR and the Robinson XCR side by side you would take the SCAR it leaves the XCR so far behind it is not even funny and in 2008 the Scar is available for Civilian sales :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana:

cosmetically i prefer the XCR actually, does anyone know if it is easy to change the stock on the SCAR? ive only ever seen it in the one configuration.

The XCR was rejected for the BFA -- however a few guys in the project said it was easier to do that than suffer thru another aborted RA design shlock.

Colt, Diemaco, KAC, Cobb, and several others had SCAR candidates.
In truth USASOC wanted the Hk416 that they had helped design -- but between Colt and Hk it was ensure that it would not compete.

It ends up being a pissing contest between operators each which has differnent need and desires.
