Robinson Arms XCR - restricted with 16" BBL?

I have seen 2 of these around the $1500 mark with Eotech sights, which I would replace with a good scope. If I sold the sight for $200-$300, I could end up with an XCR for ~$1300 CDN - doesn't this seem well below the market price in canada? Is there a reason more people don't do this?

When it comes to military calibre rifles the US States dept. will be getting involved, they change their rules more often than I change my underware, also buying rifles privately you are also out of luck if something isn't right. since you didn't buy it from a dealer they might not be as proactive in solving your problems, go and take a look at the thread about the bulging Noveske barrel as an example.

I have not heard of export requirements from the US. In the past I have purchased long guns, called in the serial number for registration, then brought them into canada.

Does anyone have a link to info on this, regarding barrel stamps, folding stocks etc?

My wife is a US and CDN citizen, would that make my importing any easier?

"Category 1 - firearm, close assault weapons and combat shotguns" typical government writing that is so vague it pretty much covers everything.

earlier XCR barrels were marked 5.56 but the newer ones are marked 223 Rem. US Gov. tends to frown upon the export of 5.56 marked rifles but every so often they let some out; that's why Robarm marks the barrels as 223 to avoid any problems with export.
