Robinson M96 expeditionary rifle availabile in Canada?

Saw one for sale on consignment a few years ago. Pretty pricey. Over 2k if i recall.
Good luck finding one as they are no longer in production. Check the EE.
 
Alex Robinson might be a very smart guy, but he is also a serious nut job. His rants are famous. The M-96 cost too much to make and it didnt sell very well which is sad because it is a good gun. It wont be coming back. Alex is wed to the XCR, the gun he says will over run the world (or something to that effect)........ Im lucky- the factory is about five miles from my house, so when I broke my m-96, I just hauled it in to them and they fixed it on the spot.
 
I have one and broke a part. Lets just say that after the service I got from Robarms, there is absolutely no way I will ever buy an XCR.

The 96 is a great rifle but if you break something you either make a part or you're hooped. Haven't seen to many for sale around here. In fact the only one I've seen on the EE is the one in my safe!

I have a stupid question. I keep seeing reference to the EE, but I have no idea what this is. Will someone please expand my knowledge. Thanks. :)
 
EE = Equipment Exchange... i.e., the 'Buy & Sell' section of these forums. You can post a Want To Buy (WTB) message and see if anyone responds or just keep an eye out for someone selling one (a rarity).

I'd hazard a guess that there are only a handful of M96's around in canada anymore & owners seem to be holding onto them - I saw a few for sale a couple of years ago & bought one - since then though, I haven't seen much on the EE. They pop up in the US often enough though.

yukoncoyote is right - parts & support do not exist for this platform, so even a minor issue could put the rifle out of commission if you can't manufacture your own parts.

If you are looking for a quality black rifle that is non-restricted - I'd recommend the Swiss rifles or Tavor.
 
I've been waiting for parts for my M96 for a year now. No support from Robinson at all and in fact they were down right rude and short with me on a number of occasions. Spend your money on something sustainable. There is a good possibility I have a $2K+ boat anchor.
 
For how much you'll spend on an M96 anyways, you're probably better off going with a Swiss Arms Black Special Target (with flat top and flip-up sights), or black special (with the SIG Diopter iron sights).

Much better rifle, and its passed the test of time :D
 
There is IMHO a few bonuses that come with an M96. The biggest being that it accepts AR mags. Stormwerkz makes some parts for them like stock adaptors and rails. Obviously the non-restricted status is appealing as well. I find mine to be an accurate and nice handling rifle and alot of fun to shoot.

The lack of support from RA is really a huge bummer, and in fact that was what killed my interest in the XCR. I am waiting on my first Swiss Arms which, I feel, is a much higher quality rifle than anything RA will ever produce. However for a guy that likes to tinker with his own rifles the 96 is a really cool rig. It's made in an interesting way and really does have some good craftsmanship in it. But there is a reason it dropped off the radar screen.

So that being said if anyone ever parts one out, let me know.

The last version of the M96 was really good, the coolest thing would have been the Bren top load upper.
Very few of those around at all.
 
i had one, in a moment of weakness i traded it for an AR. i wish i had it back.
i have seen it on the EE at least once since then as it had a custom camo job done by Skullboy you couldn't miss, if i see it again, or another one and i have the funds i will buy it just to have for banging around on the tractor instead of the Black Special
