Robinson M96 expeditionary rifle availabile in Canada?

That might have to do with "air conditoning" hahaha (jk), I know i've been known to pull the low zip technique on ruck marches in the summer hahah.

Anyone with manufacturing experience who can give advice on how hard it would be to tool up to stamp out some receivers of that style (m96/stoner 63)? I know its quite easy to make HK style receivers if you can get a cut flat. (that could be done on a a mill i suppose but thats labour intensive) I would imagine the hardest part would be getting a machine to stamp the flats...

When you really look at the way the rifle is built it is really pretty simple. It's not a huge departure from anything that already exists, and like any other rifle it has it's inherent issues. BUT, I think the real problem is tooling. To tool up to make something like this would require a ton of funding and alot of one off tooling. It absolutely could be done with enough time and effort of course. The welding on the receivers is really very, very well done. It looks like it would take alot of time to put one of these things together.

Ive got two of these, ones a user with about 2000rds thru it with zero issues and one is a brand new safe queen.

I would love the Bren top loader for it but they seem to be very rare.

This seems like it would be a viable option (take that statement with a grain of salt) for a canadian produced black rifle (non-res). I guess if a company was serious about producing it they would have to get in contact with Robison Arms and maybe purchase the stamping and forming machines... It makes one wonder anyways. I'd love to check one out in Winnipeg if anyone has one and wants to go to the range for a day.

As we all know Eugene Stoner was a smalls arms design genius. His idea of one "weapons system" that was all things, to all men, was an idea that was pretty advanced at the time. To set up and produce something like this would be a really cool project.

Does anyone on this board actually have a real "Bren" kit for one of these? I wonder how many of these made it into Canada if any? Could one figure out a way to make such a kit and still maintain the non-res status of these rifles?

Just thinkn' out loud, but we already have the receivers. Why not make a kit that easily attaches instead of an entire rifle?

I may be missing something - but the Bren setup is possible with a standard M96 (here's a pic of my rifle set up "bren style") - from what I understand, the bren kit consisted of special offset sights, nothing more. I could be wrong though....

Bren kit includes a new barrel and a rear cover with off-set sites. None came into Canada as the Bren barrel is restricted so there was no demand.

That, and I think Robarm only made a few, if any. My buddy and I looked at making a one-off Bren kit for his M96, but in the end we decided it was a lot of cost and work for a rifle that you can't get parts for.

Yes you can. The M96 rifles in Canada can be setup in the Bren configuration and fire.

The picture above is exactly that.

Yeah - that's my pic - I figure the reason for the Bren barrel has to do with a custom gasblock to provide an offset front sight. Which means the standard rifle we have would probably work. Basically just need to machine a bottom cover & a top cover with an offest rail for a scope (can't really do much with the front sight due to the gasblock) - though I never actually fired it in this configuration.

You don't need a bottom cover, just a top cover with offset rear sight.

The idea we had was a top cover with pic rail to mount a 45 degree offset rail, then slap on a red dot.
