My biggest "wish" for the XCR would be a much shorter and lighter barrel for CQB.... Hack several inches off and turn that puppy so thin it would make an AR blush.... Honestly they are a bit nose heavy when shooting off hand.
Can't beat haveing a NR black rifle with lots of factory rail space and shoots .223 and 7.62x39 tho... Cheap plinking in the gopher patch!

Tell me where I can find a non-restricted factory ACR and I'll seriously consider buying it!
Up to now, very few manufacturers have any commitment to the Canadian market and let's hope that Remington build a 18.6" ACR for Canada.

Factory non-restricted doesn't exist, unfortunately (although the match barrel through Questar is apparently quite good). Apparently factory 18.6" barrels will be available next year...
Over the years I have handled most of the different black guns available in Canada only one that looked/felt right to me is the XCR-L so I bought it...
I have complete uppers in 223 & 6.8SPC so I just pull a snap ring and cross pin switch uppers/bolts reinstall pin/snap ring and I am good to go and I have absolutely no interest in ever getting a 7.62X39 kit that is why I bought my son a SKS.
I am very happy with the accuracy of both uppers so unless you are into bullpup designed firearms as far as I am concerned the XCR-L is the only way to go.

My XCR is the new generation and in the hundreds of rounds I have put through it, it has had zero problems. No barrel issues, no lactate, nothing. People need to stop saying stuff they "heard" was a problem. They DO take some break in though. I had a few FTE's over the first 100 or so rounds but since then it's golden.
I recently bought my TAN 5.56 XCR-L from Frontier Firearms, the newer version! I read the manual and followed the break in process of 300 rds on gas level 4...Not one jam or FTE etc...
Since then I have I have it on gas setting 2, and I only use 3 types of ammo, American Eagle Tactical .223 FMJ, PMC 5.56 FMJ or MFS .223 FMJ. I must be around the 1500rd mark or over. I have not had a single issue yet...I really like using MAGPUL 5/30rd magazines with the XCR.
I also have the 7.62x39 conversion kit and fired 40rds, NO issues!

OP, i puzzled over this on and off for a long time when i bought mine.

AR modularity - stock adapters, rear grips, more rails than a sketchy bar's tp dispenser.
AR mags - again big plus.
Trigger - the newer XCR's have an excellent trigger.
Caliber swapping - .223, 6.8 and 7.62x39, not to mention if you can find a barrel , you can run .300 blackout with the .223.
ambi bolt release and non reciprocating charging handle
adjustable gas block
45 degree safety
Cons
it is a little on the weighty side
gas tube can be a pain to clean - buy a shotgun bore snake
welded flash hider is a pain to get off.
factory stock is a little short - YMMV

I bought a used Xcr with 400 rds through it.Maybe the guy who owned it before put a little bit of lock tite on it.I am on my second norinco 800 round span can of .223 from canada ammo.I've cleaned the gun every time it is used never had one problem.Love the shooter.Just my opinion.
As an XCR owner with 1400 rounds through, would say that this is a more than nice rifle, reliable, eating AR mags, interchangeable barrel etc. Was at first looking for paper shooter any AR15(10) platform rifle. First of my true rifle experience were AK 74 5.45 and 7.62(308) SVD, in America they call it Dragunov Stile Sniper Rifle... Yep that is right: USSR KGB border services, Ashnokistan, with only difference that Taliban was friendly to USSR back then in 1989. Those basically similar in gas returning mechanisms rifles are still out there in pretty good service without any modifications whatsoever. But looking at near past...
Did someone remember when and who began exchange AR,s direct gas impeachment system for gas piston? None of as would knew the answer but I do realize that this exchange are wasn't costless-painless for all AR lovers (me too) but also for a good reason.
Anyway one of My first go was Any AR with GP system. At second thought the AR charging handle has become an issue: I personally like to place my cheek a bit higher and the most of cheek pieces are on the charging handle way, so I started my research and find ASA AR15(10) Upper with side charging handle that was perfectly fitting my needs.

Impossibility to get one, pointed me to another direction until I found XCR in 7.62 SKS round with everything I needed in one whole piece for like 2200 CAD.
Itv'e been three years of my pleasure to know that such firearm quality might fulfill my crazy gun taste in one AR look alike rifle. Nope sorry, I did lie. I've bought XCR butt stock adapter made by DLASK and exchange that useful crazy-bended still rod pretended to be a butstock.
Would not say any words about accuracy, cause it much like personal talent depend thingy. My Roby doing 2" group from the bench @ 100m with EoTech holographic sight.
I adding 7X magnifier and at 300m all holes still in A4 format paper. Do I need more? Probably... But it would be different thread.

Loctite is a liquid that is placed onto a bolt before it is screwed into place it locks the threads so the screw/bolt/nut do not turn out/loosen.
Loctite is also one of the few things the XCR haters think is a put down on the XCR format they don't realize that it just shows their ign*rance to those that actually know better...

XCR haters gonna hate. AR blowers gonna blow. I have both AR's and 1 XCR in .223. Love the XCR, love it. I have not had any locktite needs as some will claim on every XCR thread. Buy the XCR if you have the money and want a new toy.
I sold mine in a time of monetary need as it was just a safe queen for me. I had all kinds of extractor and barrel problems which were eventually solved by Robinson, and then it was reliable and accurate enough for my uses.
It was okay. Kind of heavy. Id buy a used swiss instead if i wanted a 556 semi auto.
