This guy wants to sell me a Winchester 94 in 30-30 that he claims was issued to the Rocky Mountain Rangers. He emailed me pics that shows the "C Broadarrow" stamp on the receiver and the stock. I assume this would have been issued to a militia unit from BC or Alberta in WW2. I'm pretty sure no line units caried 30-30's overseas. A quick google search shows lots of info on the regular units but not that much on the millita and nothing I can find on the weaponry. This rifle seems in reasonably good condition with the exception of a broken firing pin. Comes with a sling. Is the sling issue? Anybody know anything about these rifles. I'll try to get some better pics to post because the only good one he sent just looks like a "seen-one-seen-em-all" 30-30.

I've not heard of the "Rocky Mountain Rangers", but Mod. 94's were issued to the Pacific Coast Militia Rangers (PCMR) during WWII. There are CGN members with these rifles, hopefully they can help you authenticate this rifle. What's he asking for it?

Rocky Mountain Rangers are based out of Kamloops with some cadets in the surrounding cities. Stevo is correct about the PCMR having Win 30-30s during WW2 and if you can, try to get pics of all relevant markings. I believe Riflechair at one point in time had one...try sending him a PM and see if he can give you a hand.

Serial number range is around the 1,3000,000-1,340,000. Estimated number c5000. What kind of sling? Many were fitted with a crude sheet steel front band and SMLE swivel and a Ross butt swivel to take the issue web sling. M94 Winchester was part of the PCMR cap badge. Good price.

yes it it a significant piece of history, the PCMR was the predecessor of the Canadian Rangers, they were tasked with watching out for Japaneese invasion or infiltration along the Pacific Coast, since 30-30 ammo was common they were issued Win49.
