First I have to say I am extremely critical of the gunsmiths in Calgary after two screwed me over. One is now out of business (i don't have to wonder why) and the other still is operating (not going to the name I don't want to start a thread war)

Anyways the issue i had was with my Cz 858. Which the unnamed Gunsmith had done a side mount on, for over a year I had been having issues with the scope losing zero after ever 100 shots, reason being that the mount kept coming loose. I used lock tite RED on it about a million times (yes red) and it still came loose. So after talking to some guys that also own the CZ i learned it was because the Unnamed smith did not properly mount the mount, in fact he basically threw it on, no Wonder why it didn't keep tight!! So i called up the Unnamed gunsmith and they basically told me to stuff it. So i decided it was one of two things, take the mount off and sell the scope or get someone to take a look at it first (someone good at what they do) and i went with try and repair it first since i love this gun.

After hearing a couple good words about Gary I decided i would look him up.
Now Most gunsmiths Hate from what i've heard fixing a mistake of any other gunsmith, but Gary was Happy to take a look at it for me, we set up a time that was good for us both (very accommodating) and I met him. I explained the Issue and after a couple mins looking it over he said it would be an easy fix, he explained exactly what he was going to do, and gave me a time line (very decent time line aswell). I said sounds great let me know what the cost will be when its finished and i will be happy to pay him.

Time Line was right on line with what he said, Which was great because the Unnamed smith took double the time of what he said. Anyways I met him tonight again to pick up my CZ and was extremely impressed, he had the gun all cleaned up and laid out ready for inspection. He showed me what he did and it was exactly what he had talked about when we met, and it was prefect. From a mount that couldn't hold zero worth a damn to a mount that i couldn't pull off if i had to jets trying to rip it apart. (shut up i know the gun would break!! lol)

Oh yes The PRICE!!

It cost me over 100 bucks to get the mount mounted the first time from the unnamed smith, and it wasn't worth a damn.

With Gary it cost me 45 bucks to redo all that smith's work and do extras to make it prefect.

Half the price to do it right!!

I stuck around while my buddy introduced Gary to his SKS that fell apart (i blame the tasco stock, and him not cleaning it for 6 months lol). But I learned he Does some super high end custom rifles, All the work on the City of Calgary Police (including the stuff that he could mention but not show me lol).

He has a really nice small shop in his garage and it has everything and is super clean and nice.

Overall I give him a 20 out of 10 for the work he did.

I was thinking of posting pictures but since i didn't have the pictures of the crap work that was done I decided to not post the new work as no one might understand what was done. Instead I posted his Card.

One Note, Leave a message he will return your call if u don't get ahold of him right away. I had all my calls returned very fast.

On another Note he Is CALGARY based.

Is this the guy in rocky??

If so I would not send him my socks to wash. That guy was a moron I will never do business there again. I had to buy the Kuhnhausen 1911 manual and do the work myself..... Fix my slide you jerk dont just send it back cod and say its working fine

glad your rifle came out good :)

are you sure this isnt rocky mountain rifles out of Dawson creek??

(Ya I know he isnt in Dawson creek, just making a snip on the choice in names)

Its good to hear there is another decent smith in town.

I have known Gary since the early 80s when we both worked for Guncraft.
He did good work then and like anyone else, with time and more practice things typically only get better.

I think that one right there takes the Cake over what anyone else would say.
Rick is amazing at what he does and if he gives a thumbs up that means something, Thanks rick for your input.
