Hi, I'm loading .38-55 with lead cast bullets. Will a roll crimp be enough for this round or will a crimp die be better. I plan on using black powder, or loads of no more than 17gr of XMR5744. TIA,KD

HOWDY . THe ones I have loaded with a lite roll crimp ,from RCBS cowboy dies work fine .I load a 248 lead bullet with a charge of UNIQUE listed in the Lyman reloading book.

I've got a Lee Taper Crimp die in .38-55 plus 6 other calibers and I think they are the greatest thing since sliced bread. In every caliber that I have used them I have found that they have tightened up my groups. They are worth the money. Go for it.
