I am expecting my Stag-15 to arrive soon. Got the notification from the CFO in my mail box today. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!

I have already ordered my de luxe caliber quick change for my Dillon 550 and conversion kit. Needless to say, I am just about ready to roll my own 223 Rem load.

I need help from the .223 gurus in the forum.

I will be reloading for 16" bbl chrome lined with 1 to 9" twist.
I will be shooting my loads 100-300 yrds max
a). What's the best bullet head for this type of bbl?
b). Could you guys share your 223 Rem recipe based on the above info please? :)

Who has RCBS X-Full length die set for .223 Rem in stock? Please let me know.

Thank you in advance for sharing :) :)

I have an 11.5" Armalite and have used these combinations
24gr of H 335 with a 55gr FMJ, 24.5gr Benchmark with a 55gr FMJ
24gr WC 735 with a 62gr SS109,and 25gr WC 735 with a 55gr V-max.
I also use lake city brass and winchester small rifle primers.
Hope this helps

dont forget about AA2230. i use that or H335 for the AR. works the best, and gives the right amount of preasure for the velocity.
for the shorter bbl, id stick with the 60-62 grain class bullets. if you dont want a FMJ, try a Vmax, or a Amax

If you want some speed. I load up my 1-9 Stevens with 27g of Benchrest, 40 g Nosler, winchester brass and federal primers. 3600 fps and great groups. Sub 1" at 200 yards on a good shooting day. (I don't get much of those)

Here's my 223 load.

60gr V-Max's
24gr Varget
Winchester Brass
CCI 400 Primers

3 Shot groups of 1 1/4" @ 100 yds and that's from a Ruger Ranch Rifle.

My AR-15 load (very clean and reliable)

24.0 grains of H4895
55 grains bullets (Hornady Bulk FMJ)
for 1-in-9 barrel twist, 14.5 inches

Gives 1.5" at 100
