From the bowels of my safe I bring to you my example of a Romanian M44. For those not aware, these were made at the Cugir factory (an arms manufacturer worthy of their own book) in limited numbers during the mid 50's. I happened upon this one and couldn't pass it up given the condition. Handling it beside my Polish M44 shows little difference in quality, these are very well fitted rifles and apparently rather scarce. Many were built new and repaired using imported parts from other Com Bloc countries like Poland, Hungary and the Russian SFSR so it is not uncommon to find hand guards not matching the wood of the stock and bolt parts having other countries markings on them. This example however is made of domestic parts from what I can tell. For your viewing pleasure:

Right today a dealer listed a Polish M44 for 999$+tax. Iwill love to see the faces of peoples who complain about inflated prices on EE...
