Hello all

I received a Mosin M44 carbine in a trade a couple of years ago. It is marked as Romanian, and 1952. Bayonet has been removed, so it resembles a M38. I don’t think I’ve seen any Romanian Rifles for sale, so worth more for rarity? I’m assuming no bayonet drops the value. I’ve been considering selling for awhile, but i’m not sure. I just want to get a good idea of what its worth first.

No pictures at this time.
Not selling right now, so please no PMs.

With a bayonet you would be looking at $600 plus. Without? Not so much as it will be difficult to source one of those.

I wouldnt say they are that much rarer. I had one, and genuinely gave it away. They used to be a little less desirable, but 44s are all worth more today. You can try to just find a 44 bayo somewhere, but as long as it has its lug and is in good shape I would say the 5-600. If its minty, a bit more. Bayos can be had if you search the net, so you can at least make it look right.

"It resembles a M38"...
If the bayonet lug/front sight unit has been cut, that would really affect value.

I had an M44 and it was a POS! Lousy accuracy . The only good thing was shooting it in the dark after drinking, and watch the two foot muzzle flash. Was awful hard on the ears. You were lucky if you hit a 12x12" target with it at 75 yards. My buddy's was exactly the same. I wouldn't pay you $200 for one, even with the ridiculous jacked prices now.

I suspect it's the same as Jungle Carbines... I got tired of hearing of the fierce recoil on here.
Went out an ran about 80 rounds through one at a good rate. Good enough rate to get it hot.
If you treat it like a Carbine and bear down on it, they shoot good enough. Its a military carbine.
I didn't find the recoil that bad..and I ain't a big man. 165 or 170 lbs at best
