I'm looking for opinions on the quality of Ron Smith barrels. I've heard he has a good reputation. How would his barrels compare to other makers such as PacNor?
Thanks.
I've had the pleasure of only 1 Smith barrel so far. Got a 6.5 tube and turned the gun into a 260Rem. I gave him my request for what I wanted, and he produced exactly as ordered.
It's an outstanding shooter. Price was excellent as well.
I have a .25 cal and .338 cal RKS. I've only shot the 25, it's shoots very, very well. Hopefully the .338 will be up and running in the near furture, I expect it will shoot OK as well.
When the time comes to re-barrel my .223, it'll get one of Ron's barrels too.
Ron once told me he was too old to use one of those new computer systems, but he does have on eof them fax things!
His phone number is

Go to a cast bullet shot nearly anywhere & the gun in the winning circle, some will be his. Good work & a man worth knowing!! His honesty is refreshing and his knowledge will help you a lot. AJ
Not all great .My buddy had a Smith .280 barrel put on Rem 700 that never shot worth a darn no matter what unless it was hot enough to brand cattle.D.Henry checked it out beddding etc and figured the barrel was flawed.ended up dumping the gun..................Harold *It happens I guess but it wasn't replaced.Another friend has a Smith bull barrel on a 25-06 and finally has the throat worn out and should get it set back an inch that was accurate from day one.
I have a couple of friends who shoot Rons tubes
They are pretty good but I understand you have to wait a long while for them now
Make sure you really want one before you talk to Ron!
