hi there,
I'm convinced I'm getting a .223 Tikka T3 Lite, just love the rifle, what scope would you recommend ? Looking at taking out gophers at 150yards +,shooting coyote as and when I can,I plan to shoot during the day with good light.
Lets say I have a budget of $250.00,$300.00 and $400.00So what would you get at those approx. prices ??Give me some idea of ring cost too please.
Cheers
tankman.

I posted my comment in your intro as well

My Leupold VXII does great for my T3 Lite in 22-250

Go with the Talley Lightweight ring/base combo as well, they're excellent.

Hi Onagoth,
I'm on a budget, that's why I left some price quotes so I know how much I'll need.
A friend swears by Leupold but the are expensive and 'maybe' too much of a scope for my needs ?!!!
Thanks
TM.

I use a Mueller Tactical Series on my Savage .223.
It is a 8.5-25x44AO with a mildot reticle.
For the price,I'm pretty impressed with this scope.
Check out the Mueller website.
I believe that Phil from Manitoba is still a sponsor on Gunnutz.
The name of his company is White Falls Hunting Supplies.
He lists the scope at $299 or an Eradicator at $399.
I've seen good reviews on the Eradicator also.
I really like the Burris signature rings mounted on a weaver style base of your choice.

You can get new bases for about $20 depending on what you want and new rings for about $30-40, again depending on what your style is. As for a scope your best option may be a used model. My friend just purchased one for under your $400 mark and it's a 6-24x40 of a brand name. Bushnell makes decent scopes and there are some 3200, Legend and Trophy models in the EE for your listed prices. The list of good scopes is growing, just try to avoid a Tasco. I know they are priced cheap and some here have no problems with theirs but there are plenty of others who have problems with them.

Magnification will play a big part in your purchase as well as scope name and/or quality.

A 4-12 could get you buy but there are also 4.5-14, 5-15, 6-18, 6.5-20 etc, etc for variable magnifications. Personally I like a variable since I can change my magnification anytime I want. Others on here will sing the praise of a fixed power but it's just not my cup of tea.

Thanks notenough. My friend has convinced me to go variable, and something 3-9-40 should suffice.Weary of Chinese made products,I can listen to arguments for and against. As I stated what would people recommend at those 3 price targets. What about this:
Leupold Rifleman 3-9x40mm Matte
56160 Wide Duplex $295.00
