As for meat care. Gut and skin ASAP to start the cooling process. Game bags to keep the bugs off and get the meat into a cooler as fast as you can. Since I solo hunt most of the time I won’t hunt on too hot of a day as I know I’ll have meat spoiling before I can process it all

Here, the laws says you have to keep the hide and not waste it. Rest of the carcass in the bush, that's Good.:rolleyes:

What an unforgettable experience. Watching this guy creep in minutes before last light is something I'll never forget. Tagged him through both lungs, gave him an hour to lay down but we couldn't find him in the darkness. Once we heard movement we deemed it best to come back at first light. Especially since the temperature was dropping and would be cool enough to not spoil.

Found him in 15 minutes the next morning. Barely made it 100 yards before he went down in this old skid trail.

Tough critter had broken both his front and back legs on the right side at some point in his life. We figured he'd been hit by a car years ago. They had long since healed but definitely didn't set correctly.

Can't wait for next year! Thanks for all the advice and wisdom folks, I appreciate it

45-70, the only government I trust!

Shooting a swift A-frame at 1850fps at the muzzle. My own handload. Going to get back out there and see if I can find the bullet, curious to see how much expansion there was.
