Hi Guys,

To those rimfire experts

Any chance I can get the groups tighter? Any advice will help.

Firearm is Savage MKII TR topped with Mueller APT 4.5-14x 40 AO

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong the the vertical stringing is likely caused by your breathing.
Ill be willing to bet just focusing on your breathing and trigger control as you practise more will help quite a bit.

CCI MiniMags appear to be a starting point. Solids or HP's?
With the Velocitors not showing much promise, the 100 yard group shows even worse.
With MiniMags, one rifle appears to like HP's better, and the next time out that will change but they are both very good and I anticipate better than one inch for both at 50 metres, even with the Marlin.

Would be great to see how it would do with good match ammo, I too think it'll cut it at least in half and maybe even better.

First-off..I'm no "expert" at anything..but 3 things came to mind. 1. What kind of rest are you using? 2. Trigger~factory or dialed-down a little? (most accutriggers are nice in their factory setting) 3. Ammo choice. @ 100 meters, I can't comment since I only plink with a .22lr at that range but @ 25 and @ 50, that rifle/scope (is it tighteded down?) should easily be capable of better accuracy than that. I have such a strong preference for CCI ammo that I usually start with these 3 before deciding I should venture further. CCI Standard velocity, CCI Subsonic HP, and Federal Gold Medal Target. I have a handful of .22s, and they all eat one of these offerings. Tiny groups are the goal when I use my 17M2 (and now, 17HMR :) ) but these 3 have really surprised me.
