My copy of the Blue Book puts an FE at $16,450 at 90 per cent condition. So while 1/50th might be a little on the lean side $40k to $80k would be a very optimistic estimate for a "F" model.
The latest Blue Book pegs the value of a Lefever Thousand Dollar Grade at between 30K and 100K, depending on condition. Problem is, there is only one. Catch my drift?
I suspect that, in the rarefied atmosphere of guns such as an original FE grade Fox, the Blue Book values, which are supposed to be market based, are a bit out to lunch. As per my original statement, there are so few, it's very difficult to establish a market price. We all know there is a market, we just don't see them trade enough to know what the market will establish for a price the next time one comes up for sale.
I may be splitting hairs here but I still think $16,450 for a 90% Fox FE would be a major bargain. I'd buy it.
