Ross 1903 worth ? Pics on page 2

Rare bird indeed...mr.e moose is not far off.
But, you have to find someone that will actually pay that...and there aren't that many who will or can.
Damn you,I keep on kicking myself in the Ass for not checking out the full wood with matching bayonet with sling at the Red Deer gun show last weekend.
At $1600.00 it wasn't that bad,To bad I didn't have the time to check out the stock markings,It could have been a resto or it could have been what we all would like to have.

A 1903 Ross would be a rare one and command top price if it were in original condition.
A 1905 Ross, in original condition, would still be worth a good chunk of a $1000 bill.
However, I would want to see some good detailed pictures before I would commit to it.

The 1903 is a rare bird indeed.
Knurled small-diameter cocking-piece, downswept bolt-handle, sights much like a Gew 98, in all the finest ergonomics (even though the word had not been invented) of any pre-First World War rifle.
I have had ONE in my hands..... and it was magnificent. It sold for 1600, about 10 years ago, although it was an incredible specimen of the breed.
They are NOT common.

It says Patented 1903 on receiver.It has a lever just infront of receiver that lowers the follower to let shells into inturnal mag.Just above the front of trigger guard is a " switch "
that I think is the safety ?.It does have everything smellie says in his post just above + it has trap door in butplate.I will try and post pics tonight for all to see and drool,lol !!!.
It will be on the chopping block once I know what it's worth.

I am in need of a beater 1903 to finish to restore my RNWMP carbine... S/N C702 of the 1000 rifles supplied to RNWMP in 1904.
The bolt of the 1903 (Mk I) is a bit different than the one of the 1905. It has a "built-in" "dust cover" and the extractor is of a different desing (a rounded sliding blade). You will have to hold it in place with one finger to install the bolt in the receiver. The front receiver ring may also be knurled. The trigger is linked to the sear by a knuckle and will separate from it when the trigger guard / receiver is retired from the stock.
