I live in south central Pennsylvania and at a small local gun show I bought a sporterized ( stock cut ) 1905 Ross. I tried it out and was pleasantly surprised by its accuracy! My 61 year old eyes and open sights usually don't do this well.
I have lots of questions but will hold off on them until I go through the old postings and read a book on this rifle that I sent away for. I do want to restore it but know it will be a long search for original wood. For now, I would be very happy to learn how to put the bolt back in without pinching my fingers trying to hold the bolt head rotated forward and could someone elaborate on the bore size as I understand that some of the early ones had closer to .308 than .311.
My stock was heavily sanded so no date. Any clues would be helpful.
thanks
