ross 3b rear sight

So, this is a Ross 3b rear sight. I have only ever seen one. How common are they and when were they used? A curiosity

The sight was used on rifles made for and shipped to Britain. The rifles are not at all common here. I expect spare sights are even less so.

Thanks. I was helping to sort out boxes full of mixed gun parts from an estate sale and came up with this rear sight. It took me a couple of months to finally figure out what it was. But that was all I could find out.
