A buddy of mine tells me he found a Ross M10 at the local garbage dump, it is minus the bolt. I'm going to put a wtb ad up but what do you guys think the chances are of getting a complete bolt. Not sure of the condition of the rest of the rifle as he lives a ways away from me.

Better take a close look at it before you start investing money.

But as for getting a complete bolt, they appear from time to time.

There is one on the EE right now, it needs a good bolt head though. That one is missing a locking lug.

Should post pics of what you found too, so we can see if what you are starting with is worth putting time and money into.

I didn't find it a buddy did so i can't say what condition it's in but he builds stocks for a living so he knows a bit about firearms. Thanks for some of the leads, i posted an ad in EE and have had several replies already. I'm waiting on a local guy to return home as i learned he may have a bolt. Guy says it is a M10.

M10 is a .280 Ross caliber factory sporting rifle. MkIII is a military rifle. Could also be a E-10 or R-10 sporter. You will need to know the proper model name to get the right bolt. What it says on the chamber is the action model, not the rifle model.

I dont want to point out the obvious here. but having a smith check it over first might be a good idea. i watched a video where they purposelessly wrongly assembled the bolt and fired a round and it gnawed up the receiver and bolt pretty bad. might be a reason as why a rifle was in the dump.
