I'm firing up the chrono today and just curious as to any favored loads that work well as far as POA / POI with Ross MK II's.
I don't cast for .303 (yet) so considering the drought (as far as reloading components is concerned) persists my options are 150 gr SP ( Hornady) and 174 FMJBT (Hornady). Powder wise my choices are 4895, 3031, 4227 and 4831 sc.
The rifle has an enlarged chamber; not so bad at the shoulder, but quite large at the case mouth (fired case mouth's ID's mic out at .320). Have to full length size the cases or the bullets drop right in. I've a Lee collet sizer, but it's proving less than satisfactory.
I was thinking of the SP for deer and the FMJ as a coyote round.
If anyone has a Pet load that they want to forward it'd be much appreciated.
Thanks

Edit; It could be said that this post belongs in 'Reloading' but as it was rifle specific I thought it best put here

Send Tinman204 a PM. He has been playing around with Ross rifles and cast bullets since he had a visit with SMELLIE and myself, and has gone dog wild with them.
He has a 200 yard range in his back yard, and loves to experiment. He has been getting insanely small groups with cast bullets.

He also loads jacketed bullets and does VERY well with them in Milsurp rifles. Ask him about SMELLIE's pet .303 load.

To add to what Tinman and Buffdog have told you, have you slugged the bore, and what model of MkII do you have? Some of the earlier ones have tight barrels i.e.: .300 lands and .308 grooves. If this is the case then the 220gr .308 bullets work ridiculously well over IMR4895. Of my two Rosses here with the tight barrels on them one shoots well under MOA and the other about 3moa with a bore that looks like the surface of the moon.
