Hello i need some help with identifying what all the different stars mean on the mk2. Mainly im curious about the different rear hand guards, i have a stock that looks like it would use a flat bottom hand guard but i have seen ones that look like a jig saw piece that fits into a cut out piece in the forstock. Im kind of confused on which mk* gun would go with my stock. Thanks any info would be appreciated.

You're right about there being lots of variations in the Mk II Ross. Based on your question, your stock has lost all the markings on the buttstock that would have aided identification.

You only have the stock? Or do you have the barrel and action as well? The handguards used reflect the type of rear sights used on the rifles. Can you post some photos?

The "jigsaw puzzle" is most likely the Mk.II***. Handguard notches sown into the forend. Does your rear sight look like a roller coaster? One *. Safety is a flag, rather than a sliding button? Two *. Otherwise four or five star.

Thanks guys for the imfo i dont have the rifle or the handguard so im not sure what rear sight will go with the stock but it must be a early one because it doesn't have that notch in it that would accept that jig saw shaped handguard. There are a few markings on the stock but there hard to make out. I see there is a round stamp near the butt plate and i can see a X stamp and the #54 and maybe something with a H. Sorry i would take a pic but i have a hard time with it.
