Ross Mk3 question 303 to 280

I have most of everything that I need...thanks to individuals on this forum...but I need a magazine to fit a 280.
I tried to build a mag, from strong sheet metal but my first attempt was unsuccessful .
I have a rusty 303 Ross mag that I am taking to my ice shanty, so that I can take it apart and clean up while waiting for the Walleyes to bite ....
I think the mag can be modified to fit, but was hoping someone had already accomplished this .

If worst came to worst...you could always do it up as a single shot. Not sure if you'll find a .280 magazine.

That was my original intention(well after my failed attempt to make one)...until I bumped into this thread...now you guys have my hopes up again::).
In the meantime I'll clean up that old rusty 303 magazine...I think if I straighten up the front of the magazine it could be made to fit almost any cartridge .

Hi the keepa
Nice of you to drag this topic up from the depths. I have not yet seriously persued this conversion as I was hoping for an original .280 as suggested. The biggest problem is other rifles dipping into the funds...ie a darn nice original Royal Tiger Enfield, an 1892 Winchester SRC in 44-40 which belonged to a great uncle, etc . The Ross is always on the backburner however waiting for it's turn. Please follow up with details and results. Best of luck.
Cheers

Thanks for the update , Jaguar . I know what you are going through .My 280 Ross project has been ongoing for a couple of years ...a part here a part there ...a stock from the states...dies from down south.... a shell holder from BC etc etc .
I'll take some pics if I can convert the 303 magazine to fit 280 Ross cartridges
