Hi, I have a Ross Mk3 that was cut down many years ago before I inherated it but it is such a good shooter that I would like to put a decent stock on it. Does anyone know where I could pick one up. Any hints would be appreciated

Might be worth it to post a pic, just to see what you're dealing with. If your stock is cut in the right place and still shows markings, you could sell it and buy a buggered one to build up to your liking.
Sorry I quess I wasn't clear enough. Not only the stock has been cut down and heavily sanded but also the barrel has been shortened. I beleave that this was done by some store??? some time back as I have seen other pictures the same as this one. Sorry I'm not able to post a picture as I'm a ay on holidays for the next few weeks. I was acutally thinking of a sporter stock in this case
Target Sales sold many that were cut down and sanded, with a shiny poly type finish, and ventilated recoil pad. Three barrel lengths, I think the original uncut barrel was sold as "The Plainsman", can't remember what the others were called. Mid fifties vintage, I think. Have to dig up the ad later.......
Don Robinson used to offer a sporting semi finished Ross stock. Perhaps one of the current stock carvers in Canada might have a pattern. IIRC, Wilson acquired Don's patterns.
try and find a gun shop that has a stock maker, a friend of mine has onem but he is never home much do to his job, but you put a blank chunk of wood in it, and a old stock and it will shape it to size
Mine is likely one of the cut down models Bushman mentioned. It has what is left of an vented pad and a bit of finish left. It deserves better than that
you can saw-off the perchbelly butt with a table saw and match a piece of walnut and shape things grip-to heel from there I bought mine for 75.00 and dad cleaned-it up and we put a one-piece Redfield 700 LA turn-in base on-it and I shot my first moose with it with a weaver K2.5. I love that gun. It's got a pachmyr pad too.
Possibly try Great American Gunstock. They have a website (just google the name) and I was told they were familiar with the Ross. Don't expect cheap, especially if high end wood is ordered. Not even sure if they can ship to Canada. Drop them an e-mail to find out and let us know the results.
Cheers
