Ross MKI

IRT shot out barrels, the majority of my M-10's have "bad" barrels in that they are corroded, especially at the throat. There is often some half decent (albeit corroded) rifling at the muzzle and with care and feeding of lead bullets I can make them shoot. Any time I shoot questionable ammo .IE corrosive (salts) primers or powder (I was brought up on war surplus ammo), I put boiling water through the bore as a matter of course (angled custom funnel just for that), however many hunter/shooters in the past had no clue as to the absorbency of salts in the bore and every year when they hauled out the "deer rifle" it had a rusty bore although put away "clean".
ONE OF THESE DAYS ........I am going to have one of the worst barrels taken out to .300 or .308 and make up a ".308 Ross"( Just open the throat from .286 to .300) or better yet just re-barrel to .308 or 30-06 (see Sedgely custom rifle in 30-06 I posted on the RR Site in the Winter) . LOTS of discussion on the Ross Rifle site, but I am not interested in kicking the slats out of myself any more with magnum loads in a light rifle.
John; you have a fine collection.
Jeff; PM me if you are serious.
