I picked up this Sportered Ross this weekend at an auction. Now I need to strech the wood
Double edged sword - Bubba was too lazy to sand the wood..... but bubba was too lazy to clean the bore. It is rusted up bad.
Has all the wood behind the read band in original condition, so it should be an easy restore project.
Curious with the stock markings and wouldn't mind some input:
I take it that it was originally issued to 2CGA with rack number 48 in March of 1912, then re-issued to the 42nd Battalion CEF with rack number 873 in March of 1915. Am I correct in that? Reciever is marked LC, so it most likely made the journey to Europe.
I have researched that 42nd Battalion CEF was 42nd Lanark and Renfrew Regiment. Is that right? Who was 2CGA? 2nd Dragoons or 2nd Regiment, Queen's Own Rifles of Canada? Other?
Any help would be appreciated.
