Hey guys I have been reloading for my to Enfields for a while now and did some reasearch on the Ross rifle for another addition to the collection ? Any body know where i could purchase one ? and what would be a fair price ?
 
Put a Add on EE and you will find one, and a sportier usually goes for about $150- $250, not sure how much a full wood one sells for but i am guessing $800+ the better the condition the more it will be
 
I was told ('way back when) that you needed 15 posts in the fora before they would grant access. That might have been loosened up by now.

The idea is to keep out the guys who just wanna make a fast buck, try to get them to CONTRIBUTE to something besides their own wallet.

You have to APPLY for the EE but, once you are in, you're IN. And permission generally takes only a day.

The ee approval mods were out hunting for a while and are clearing the backlog.

To get into ee you need to post and use a normal e-mail address and server not one of those anonymous servers based out of eastren europe or africa.

Just trying to keep the scammers out.
 
saw a Mk11 on EE last week, $1400 obo, now it had not be sporterized and had all the bits and pieces in original wood. saw a couple others in the $3-400 range. keep looking, keep asking, you'll find one. I'm in the process of re-stocking a bubba'd sporterizer, shoots great.
 
Im really excited because the Ross rifle has had such a bad rep and after a little research i have found that it has been most likely user error and missassembly issues. Can anyone comment of this for a fact ie) had problems with there Ross ?
 
Ross myths

Lots of discussion already on this forum about the reasons the Ross got the bad Rep. Most of the stories about bolts blowing back on MkIII are because people disassembled the bolt and assembled it incorrectly. The jamming in heat of battle issue was mostly due to overisze ammunition. Use the search function here, and join the Military Surplus Collector's Forum and you will learn more than you can ever remember. One disadvantage the Ross did have was that it was too long to fit into the trench dugouts. Another disadvantage compared to the Lee Enfield was 5 Rd. manazine capacity. Neither of these present problems for today's shooters. A good Ross is an extremely accurate firearm, even the shortened barrel ones. Start by acquiting one of those to keep the cost down, but be warned, you will "get the bug" and want to uprade or add to your collectiom.

First post! I just got a 1913 No.1 Mk.3 Enfield just in time for the PPCLI 100th anniversary this year, so now my new goal is to get my dirty mitts on a Ross in any condition. Are they fairly rare at gun shows? I've only had the opportunity to go to 3 shows and none of them have had a Ross that I've seen.

Fine riflles. Accuracy and quality wise perhaps the best service rifle built. Ned Crossman called the model 10 Ross the "perfect rifle" but he was rating it as a hunting rifle. If you pick one up it may be a sportered military rifle with an E on top of the chamber for "enlarged", your fired brass may look odd or not last as long but nothing to worry about.
