So looks like I just bought my Second Ross rifle.

Pictures to come soon.

What can anyone tell me about this little rifle?

Thanks for all info.

1912 Cadet? If so there's a few of us trainer enthusiasts here.

There are military and sporting versions, as well as military style civilian varieties (identified by the serial number on the left side of the barrel near the receiver).

I will wait till the pics are posted so we know if this is the rifle you are talking about:

Looks like it's a military style civilian model that has been bubba'd. Note that the sporter version would likely have had a shotgun style curved buttplate. I'm not so sure as to state this for 100% certain.

Does yours have a butt trap in the end for a cleaning kit?

I was going to use the standard speed stuff with it.

And idea on value and a source for the a replacement rear sight?

The source would be another Ross 1912 Cadet rifle. The value would be the purchase price of a parts rifle ($150-200).

I had a gunsmith on this board make one for my rifle.

Ross .22 sporter

Here's a little half-stocked .22 Ross of mine. Note the "shotgun style" butt-plate. Have seen pics of two other sporters with same butt-plate which leads me to believe it's legit. There is mention in The Ross Rifle Story about this butt-plate also.
