Ross Popup Sight

Hen’s incisors sir!
In decades of collecting sporters I have only found one (on a bridge) in a lot of rifles and parts.
They were never available as spares, and only came off M-10s that were being broken down for parts after Bubba got at them.
IFF one can find a Lyman 48S that is the way to go as Porter’s are sloppy junk (never store them in the “closed” position as the flat spring loses it’s tension).
The 48S was built for the Ross M-10 and as a “bolt-on” (one only screw and second screw head for decoration) and some solder to firm it all up. Nothing you can’t undo but you won’t want to.
Turns the M-10 into a 4” groups @ 200 yards which is better than I can see at 75.
Check out the Ross Rifle site on the net for great pics but in case you have a struggle I will totter over to my computer and see if I can find a pic or two to post.
How about one of yours for the crowd?
Best of luck

I’m still waiting on UPS to drop it off.

I picked it up on the EE a couple weeks ago. Looks like it’s in decent condition, but I was curious if a peep could be found and installed. Now comes sourcing dies, brass and bullets really don’t seem to be that big of an issue.

Looks nice in low rez. Butt stock grain looks nice as well and lots of evidence of carrying in the woods at the breech, as no butt swivel seems evident. (They came that way sometimes)
Bore condition?
IFF excellent, hunt down a Lyman 48 (WJS but check that out as I am away from mine) and get your gunsmith to mount along with higher fore sight.
If not put two pegs on the wall, and mount ceremoniously, with scotch in hand, as it is not worth the fuss and $muss of gearing up for accuracy.
Best of luck.

Conor:
Cause it's NOT ####o if spelled with a capital "O"!
When you are my age, you stop looking at Playboy and look at your guns and motorcycles.

Wow that is something else

I’ve promised myself I won’t buy anymore Ross rifles until I can afford/find a sporter in good shape
