Ross Rifle Manual - legit?

I find it interesting that this manual, and looks legit, shows the front sight hood installed with the flat towards the muzzle in 2 photos. One in the complete view and the other on the next page as a close up of the barrel/muzzle area. The angled portion of the sight hood follows the contour of the sight base.

As we have had many discussions on this forum and other sites regarding the sight hood, this may shed some light.

Thank you for sharing that manual. I keep a whole pile of info on OneNote, which is shared on all of my computers, iPad and dumbphone.

I have the same handbook as an original publication and except for some hand written notes in mine they are identical. A very good reference for the early Ross.

Is it possible that this is an American manual for the Ross? I don't think they bought any MkIIIs. Also, they did a few things a little different. I believe the sight hood direction was one thing they did backwards. So was the way they dealt with bad headspace.

I'm curious as to why the question of legitimacy is being brought up. Do you suspect that someone forged Ross manual with fake information for... giggles?

Check the date on the book. It's going to be another three or four years before the MK III comes out.

In 1907 all they had were Mk I's and II's .

It isn't talking about the Mk. 3 rifles, rather the Mk. 3 rear sight (remember that there were somewhere around 7 modifications to the Mk. 2 rifles, and they had a variety of sights).

I suspect it is original and correct, no reason anyone would fake it, and it has information that would have been correct in 1907 in it.
