Sorry to disappoint you Rossguy but the part of Canada I'm in "snow" is a rare commodity. Was just out in a t-shirt this past weekend cutting the lawn, though....

True enough, but thread originally started with "the .303 that Grandpappy carried over there" kinda thing. Not entirely true. The Pacific Coast Milita Rangers were allowed to buy their carbines from the gov't for I believe $10, once the PCMR was disbanded in 1945. If you see a C broad arrow marked .30-30 lever action Winchester or Marlin, it was probably a PCMR rifle.
OK Ross fan's . I finally got to see this rifle today .The bad news first it is not a full wood . It is a Mk II , It has the the top wood from the receiver to the front sight but not ahead of the sight . there is no barrel band & the for stock is cut back ( sporterized ) Every thing else looks original The bluing is 100 % no wear marks but dose not look like it has been re blued . the lettering is crisp no sign of being polished . Says Ross 1905 on side of receiver along with Montreal Canada . The rifle & bore are like new . Question were these rifles converted & sold as sporting rifles by a company ? & what would a ball park price be for one as I described it . Sorry no pic's yet
