I got a call today from someone who picked up a Ross rifle , I think he said a 1905 ( not sure of model #'s) it's not a full wood but a cut down or sporter stock . I haven't had a chance to see it yet but the guy said it would be for sale and of course he doesn't know or won't say how he wants for it:mad: Does anyone have an idea how much it could be worth( not seeing it) I might make him an offer but like a rough idea how much they go for or what to look for . Any suggestitions would be appreciated
Thanks
Bob

If the rifle is an original sporting rifle, its value could vary from $150 to over a thousand, depending on the condition, the exact model, special features, etc. If it is a service rifle with barrel and stock both cut, it would likely sell for $50 - $150. If the stock is cut in front of the band, the stock markings are clear, the barrel is full length, it is in overall decent condition, and it is a candidate for restoration, perhaps $250.

The Ross is a model 1905 with a cut walnut stock :( the barrel looks like the original 28" with unhooded front sight . Markings on barrel 1906 SN 839, same number on stock

Can anyone tell me how the sights work on the 1905 , I see that you can slide the rear sight forward and there is also a ring that is numbered that when turned it also moves the sights back and forth???
Thanks

IIRC one turn of the ring around the barrel changes the range 100 yd. Second most complicated sight ever put on an infantry rifle.

What's the most complicated? Ladder sight on an M1903?

what is the value of a Ross nowadays?
Talking about a decent condion one. I know the pices vary, but still... there must be a range.
Thanks
