Ross Rifles Stocks and Bands

Lees are just plain tough. Rosses are just plain pretty. MkIIIs are tough in their own way, but they disdain hard, dirty work and hate being fed cheap junk. Be like sending a Justin Trudeau to work on a drilling rig. Ha ha.

Brandon- It's a privilege seeing the work you are doing!

Hope to see pics of the finished set on a rifle.

Thanks Tom. They're getting a lot better, and I have a long way to go to perfection unfortunately ha ha. But they are much better now than the first few were. There are some very pretty sporter stocks coming up fairly soon, I can't wait.

For sporters any of the traditional gun stock blank providers have nice blanks available that will work. For 50" blanks needed for military stocks I haven't found a source for anything fancier than totally bland. The blank used for this MkI* was the nicest out of the six blanks in this last batch from my source. If I could find a source of decent walnut that I could legally harvest and process I would do that and in eight years or so we'd have nice military length stocks! A friend of mine took my dad's old falling saw and made a chainsaw mill out of it. We used it on some green poplar a few weeks ago and it worked great. I also have places to store the blanks once milled, just need to find a source for raw wood, and find a mentor to teach us to mill good gunstock blanks. It'll get there eventually. I don't think you can bring bark on wood products of any kind between the provinces? If that was an option a drive to Ontario or somewhere where walnut grows would be in order.

I don't think that you are hijacking at all.

Glen Murphy in Australia is making excellent reproduction front sight hoods as well as many of the screws for these old girls. Sight hoods are the same from MkI* on up.

Awesome! How do we get our hands on them?
