Do I detect a Ross picture thread on the horizon?

Very nice rifles Longbranch, wish they still had AFFORDABLE ammo for the 280 around.
I have a couple pics of Ross' in action if you want I will post them. Don't want to curb your thread. Let me know!

Noel

Noel, please post....and anyone else who has clear pictures as I do not believe Longbranch would object.

Longbranch would there be any possibility of some close-ups ?

Very well, I'll take them off if there are objections.

These are a couple pic of my friend when he was a kid. He is now 87 to give you an idea how old they are. They are among my most favorite of my stash.
He grew up with my Gramma, went to school together.

I posted this once before but the folks who got me started on hunting have had a history of bear trouble. As you can see a Ross is indeed enough to stopp a charging Grizzly. It was 670Lbs. Sherry shot it four times. My Dad was building his barn at the time and heard the shots, sounded more like a semi automatic he told me.

Objections be buggered....post some more if you have them, please.

Ps, I would be very comfortable having a Ross as my only sporting rifle.

Sorry chappy, that's all I have of Ross'. It would have to stray into Remington before I could post anything I haven't bored everyone here with a bunch of times before. Unless it was to show off the stash I've collected for the heirlooms. Not quite done doing that yet tho.

Very nice Ross collection Noel. I have one in 303, always wanted a 280 though. - dan

Uh-oh, you see J, I've started it already!:p

Dan, those are longbranch's very lovely Ross' and yes I would love a 280. I will settle for my B&W photos for now tho.

Did a search for 280 brass last night and found some guys using magnum cases. Seemed like a possible route when a box of 20rds goes for over a Brown Dollar.:runaway:

I have a couple of pictures of Ross sporters, I hope it is okay to post them with longbranch

http://

The top gun is a Ross Model 1901,action made in Hartford and the rest was done in England by Charles Lancaster, cal 375 2 1/2 flanged nitro. This gun has express sights and a peep sight on the bolt
The next gun is a 1907 Scottish Deer Stalker in 280 Ross and is fitted with stardard sights and also has a set of sights that fit on the side, one piece on the reciever with a eye piece in it and then a piece on the front sight base with a cross hair, these are hard to use.
The third gun is a M10 sporter in 280, basically a stardard gun
Then a Model 5R spoerter in 303

The bottom 2 guns are made up sporters on the MK III action, the first is a 35/303 just a rebored barrel and chamber opened up
The next is a 6.5 /303 improved built by Epps in the late 50's new barrel and a scope mount. Not real sporters but nice guns I think

Very Nice Ross Sporter Collections, fella's. I don't have any Ross' Rifles yet but am hunting for some. I do have two nice Lee-Enfield BSA Factory sporters, which I can share with you.

Top. Recently aquired from 55recce a nice Lee-Speed BSA sporter with express sights, in .303

Bottom. A BSA sporter also in .303
