Tried the new barrel mount Skinner peep sight on my 16" Rossi 44 with a Skinner .5 front post, it worked very well, I removed the aperture and used it as a ghost ring the first shot was a bulls eye at 26 yards, then 2 shots high at 100 yards adjusted elevation 2 on paper [one bulls eye one 3"low], I painted the edge of the front post white[Wife's nail polish], I had previously tried a Marbles adjustable folding rear sight with a .5 Marbles front and it shot high just like the factory sight. Ran out of time today, looking forward to trying it with the aperture. I have often spent more ammo on scoped rifles sighting them in than this.

I love those Skinner sights. I mounted a Skinner barrel sight on my old Winny 1894 in .38-55, and it's easily the best iron sight I've ever used, even on that ancient beast. I can coax about 2 to 3 inch groups at 100 metres on a bad day with my handloads, and I've gotten it down to 1.5 inches many times. Should be good for deer and black bears out to the effective range of the cartridge, and it makes for a very handy and quick-shooting rifle. Skinners are terrific for the price.
