Just getting the word out for anyone caught in this beaurocratic mess... how many people bought Judge rifle's or shotguns, only to have them now declared restricted?

They were restricted rifle/shotgun to start with... Or is this something else.

Rossi Circuit Judge SCJ4510, 410/45 Colt, 18 1/2 in, Hardwood Stock, Blue

Restricted to start with always has been because it uses a revolver action... They use the same frame in the pistol thats why.

When they first were coming in the prices were 1,200-1,400 they went restircted then it droped to 1,000 and now it's 799 since so few people want them.

They have been imported and sold as NON-restricted for a couple years... our LGS has had them and sold many... so have a number of others I checked with... the LGS received a bulletin from the RCMP indicating that they were NOW rstricted and they had to make follow-up calls to all purchasers.

Hook me up....................

They were never non-restricted as they used the same K-frame with no modifications to make it something other then a K-frame was the word I recieved waaaaaay back when............

Um, as far as I know, the only legit source for these has been Sean Hanson at Freedom Ventures. He's the Rossi distributor, and was the first to announce that they had been deemed restricted before (I believe) a single one left his hands.

I don't see how any retailer got them without knowing they were restricted.

I can see it a shop owner knew they were restricted but the hired help didn't..............2 years down the road someone calls the CFC to complain that his buddies judge is not restricted and his is...................

The distributor sent them to a number of LGS's... and the paperwork is apparently catching up... wouldn't be the first miscommunication... look at the retailers that still proclaim the BX-25 mags legal, becasue their distibutor shipped them.

Does a DA revolver action classify as a "semi-auto" - one bullet per trigger pull, no bolt or lever, or other mechanical means necessary to chamber the next round. That's probably why it's restricted. Too bad... it's not painted black, has no flash supressor, or anything that makes it look scary...

As nothing to do with the fact that it is DA. As already mentionned, it is a revolver with a rifle stock attached. It is the same frame as their revolver, you can remove the rifle stock and replace it with a revolver grip, therefore they classified it as a revolver.

I was pissed right off after handling one of these in the states to find they're restricted here. The argument you could swap on pistol grips and have a pistol makes no sense as I could cut off the stock and cut down the barrel on a hunting rifle just as easily. One of those would make a sweet little woods rifle (okay admittedly I've always thought they were a cool design after seeing their ancestors at civil war reenactments).
