Rossi Judge declared restricted.

I was pissed right off after handling one of these in the states to find they're restricted here. The argument you could swap on pistol grips and have a pistol makes no sense as I could cut off the stock and cut down the barrel on a hunting rifle just as easily. One of those would make a sweet little woods rifle (okay admittedly I've always thought they were a cool design after seeing their ancestors at civil war reenactments).

I agree, kind of like a lot of Contender are registerd as handgun even if you put a long barrel and rifle stock on it. They're saying it was always a revolver that a rifle stock was attached to as opposed to a shotgun that was always a shotgun even if you attach a pistol grip to it.

The problem with the shotgun versions is that the plugs are too accessible and easily removed... and heaven forbid you have a scary four shot .410/28 ga. repeater... you might slay hordes of waterfowl!

Sorry, don't want to confuse anyone, maybe it was a bad example. My analogy to a shotgun wasn't the Rossi shotgun but a shotgun like a Rem 870 where you can install a pistol grip on and would somewhat resemble what a Rossi would look like if you removed the rifle stock and replace it with revolver grips. The 870 being a non restricted shotgun with a pistol grip and the Rossi being restricted.

As nothing to do with the fact that it is DA. As already mentionned, it is a revolver with a rifle stock attached. It is the same frame as their revolver, you can remove the rifle stock and replace it with a revolver grip, therefore they classified it as a revolver.

Sorry, my mistake - was told at Epps the reason was DA , whereas the T and Co was SA

It would be nice if you could post the names of the distributor and LGS (Sorry I don't know what LGS stands for)
I can guarantee you it was not us that imported them as non-restricted.

Considering when we first started importing these things, there was a Long Gun Registry and EVERYTHING had to be registered, I don't see how someone could have not figured they were non-restricted - there's only one FRT for them.

LGS = Local Gun Store... since the misunderstanding was rectified we'll leave it at that... just wanted to be sure it was known that the Judges are restricted... makes perfect sense based on the configuration, but it really is too bad... they would great little small game brush guns.

You're so right - it's a crying shame. Every time I walk past the shelves we keep them on, I think the same thing.
And thanks for explaining that acronym. I learned something new on January 1 2013!
