I bought one of these about 10 years ago on a whim....a thing of beauty to behold. As we were reboxing it at the dealer, the rear sight ( the fancy ladder elevator one) fell off onto the floor. The sight was pot metal junk so we threw it away and the dealer mounted a regular semi buckhorn on it.
At the range it would barely keep a group on a dinner plate sized target at 15 yards from the bench using either 38s or 357s, reloads or factory. I could not hit the swinging gas drum at 100 yards. (I could hit this offhand with my model 19 SW pistol 6/6) Awful thing. Sold it on with full disclosure. Maybe they've improved.

As was mentioned earlier in this thread, this new run of rifles is considered by many to be much better quality.
I can't speak for the old ones, but I have one of the new production run and it is excellent. Plenty accurate for me with .357 or .38s. Dinner plate at 100yards is easily achievable.
...from the sounds of things that bar had been set very low. Better than junk does not equate to the $1,500,00 ask in my opinion.
Two posts ago it was $2k. Now it's $1500. You realize the price is $1179 right?
I wouldn't let a single bad review turn me off personally, but it's your money so you do you. PR claimed earlier in the thread they've sold literally hundreds of these, if they were all as bad as Arcosdad's there would be plenty of threads complaining about them, and the only complaints I've personally seen outside the one above is people complaining about wanting the 454 to come back.
To clarify,my post was in reference to the Chiappa he asked about, not the Rossi.
last ones we had, not that long ago, were $1129.00

The lever action craze has hit North America in spades.
I have never seen a demand for lever guns like this for over 40 years.
I'm not sure if it's our cowboy heritage roots or just the fun and cool factor, but the demand far out weighs the production and will probably continue for several years.
Do these work for cowboy action matches?
