Hey Guys;

I could not resist this little pump rifle & had to have it. It's got a 1.3x Bushnell Magnum Phantom pistol scope on it.

Can't wait to get it to the range & see how it works & groups.

Anyone else got one of these?

Cheers
Jay

I bought mine at Laurentian Trading Post back around '74 or so and still use it. Mine has a shorter, and smooth, forearm.
Although it has coarse sights and the front sight is skewed it is a "can't miss" carbine for plinking or small game.

I remember Laurentian Trading Post! Miss that place!

Can you run Short, Long and Long Rifle through yours Waba?

Cheers

This was a "bucket list" gun for me for a LONG time, and I promptly overpaid for one the moment I found one here a 2-3 years ago. Like Waba's experience, the sights are mediocre at best...coupled with the short sight radius and the whole idea of the gun lost lustre for me really quickly. It was also the second last gun I owned with a tube mag and it sort of sealed the "no more tube mags" deal for me soon after. I didn't keep mine THAT long but if memory serves, it only shot 22LR. I was also hoping it ate everything like (I think?) the Winchester it's based on, did.

great little gun - had a few of them and regret getting rid of them - better than the Winchester model it was made to copy. You'll love it.

How it is better than a Winchester 62a ? I'd love to hear this one . I've had both and the Winchester is miles ahead . Plus , parts are obtainable for the Winchester . Rossi not so much . Contrary to the myth that parts are interchangeable , a few are but most aren't .

It will handle all three but occasionally a short would get hung up trying to enter the chamber. I've mostly used lr in it and I consider the shorts and longs I still have to be almost collector's items. I did have some extraction problems with high velocity lr until I lightly (and very, very carefully) crisped up the extractor hook. It has been totally reliable in that department ever since.
Once in a while a round would get hung up in the mag tube, which could cause one to believe the mag was empty, and with the somewhat concealed feed path I saw it as a potential safety concern. A bit of polishing on the front side of the inner mag tube follower crimp resolved the issue.
There is no way that the Rossi comes up to the fit and finish of the Winchester it copied but with a bit of tuning it becomes a slick, fast handling, dependable rifle. I did a bit of tuning on mine and I am quite satisfied with it.
