Rossi pump question

I just recently got a Rossi pump gun. I haven't shot it yet.... took it down for a good clean and lube. Put a half a dozen snap caps thru it and it appears to function properly. Further testing will of course have to wait for the lock down to end. Any known issues that I should be looking for on this?

I've been trying to determine the age of it. Traded several emails with Rossi, they finally threw up their hands and said they were unable to date it as they didn't import it. Thought that strange.. it does say Rossi on it but who knows?

It's got a 5 digit serial number, and is stamped "AMADEO ROSSI S.A." on one side, and "GARCIA OUTDOOR SPORTS LIMITED - CANADA" on the other. I was led to believe by Rossi that GARCIA might have been the importer, but Google returns nothing even close.

Any help is much appreciated.

Pretty sure Garcia is your importer. Contact a long running gunstore. Their staff likely have been in the gun business longer than some of the people answering the messages at Rossi. First one that comes to mind for Ontario is Ellwood Epps in Orillia.

Pictures would help, if you can.
Sounds like it might be the new Rossi.

SHOT 2020: Rossi Revives the Model 62 "Gallery Gun"

No, same style, but it's definately NOT a new one. Unfortunately, this one has been abused. I'm waiting for lock down to end to see how, or even if, it will shoot. Then I can decide what restoration I might want to do with it. Furniture is in great shape, but the barrel is pretty badly pitted on the outside.

Thank you for the suggestion. I've dealt with them a few times and always found them great people to deal with.

Not sure how accurate this information is from a gunbroker sales add but they claimed that,
Amadeo Rossi Model 62 (Garcia Import) pump action rifle, chambered in 22 LR caliber, early Rossi - Garcia Corp. Washington DC import (1968-70), 23" round barrel with sights

This is from a thread on The High Road for a Garcia marked Rossi shotgun,
"A: Garcia Sporting Arms Corp. in Teaneck, New Jersey, absorbed Firearms International Corp. (importer of Rossi firearms at the time) of Washington, D.C., in 1971 or '72. Garcia became the importer of Rossi firearms and conducted business from the Washington, D.C., address until 1977."

Likely a 70's production gun.

If it's just light external pitting it should be pretty easy to clean up. The rossi's came in 2 different barrel lengths and some have ocatagon barrels where as most are round barrels. Some were chrome plated as well.

What's the barrel length and profile on yours?

Thanks. Some more good information here. A round barrel on this one. Overall length is 39", barrel is about 23", allowing for the 1/2" in the reciever. Not sure if the pitting would be considered light on this one or not... still new at this sport so not much to compare it to. I've had several options presented to me to try and repair it, hopefully one of them will work. And, hopefully it will shoot good. The barrel was so filthy when I got it that I couldn't even see the rifling.

It's hard to see how deep the pits are but it looks like it should clean up easily enough, even a quick clean up with emery cloth and some cold blue (I like Oxpho) would help.

Thanks. Will see how it shoots, then see about making it presentable. I had another suggestion of a product from Dura-Coat. They market a product for filling in deep pits, but I'm sure if I use it that will eliminate any chance of rebluing it. Will be doing some more research before I decide which route to take.
