I have a 44 mag Ranch Hand with the Skinner peep sight. I put a full butt stock on it as well.
It is accurate enough, but I find with my older eyes and the short sight radius, a slight off center peep alignment with the front sight causes a pronounced point of impact shift (even a short ranges).
I would like to put a short rail on it for use with an electronic type sight. Maybe a Dr. Optic or a laser...
I see a pic type base (Sun) that thumbscrews into a side screw holder, but the reviews are less than satisfactory.
Does anyone have any experience or suggestions? I thought about a custom base extending from the rear sight dovetail to the front top of the receiver where it would tapped and screwed into the receiver (possibly the bbl as well).
